Your Harbourfront experience begins as you
walk through the narrow entranceway which emulates the feel of boarding a ship.
As you walk past the renowned Sushi Bar, you are greeted by a warm friendly
smile and shown to your table.
It is easy to feel relaxed amidst the pleasant
atmosphere and the friendly staff. It is a leisurely dining experience where you
can settle back and enjoy your time without being rushed. This elegant dining
experience is one to remember.
The menu, which is largely Mediterranean,
offers an eclectic selection of dishes ranging from fresh sushi to seafood to
steak. The sushi, which is made fresh and in the main dining room at the sushi
bar is phenomenal, just be careful not to put too much wasabi on! The mussels, in a
broth of white wine, garlic and tomato sauce are tasty but perhaps a little
small for this time of year. Two very notable main courses that deserve mentions
are the Veal Pavarotti and the Chicken dish. The Veal Pavarotti is prepared by
marinating beautifully tender meat in a divine mushroom sauce. The Chicken is
prepared with fresh herbs and spices and served with roasted vegetables and a
potato; meat is tender and juicy with such a perfect flavour, it is hard to
stop yourself.
The delivery and timing of the meals are
super; a well coordinated team effort between the wait and kitchen staff. The
courses are served at appropriate temperatures and the portions are nicely
sized.
The Harbourfront offers an excellent wine
list; prices range from reasonable to quite expensive.
A dessert worth mentioning is the key lime
pie. It is melt is your mouth delicious, decorated with small fruit pieces and
puréed fruit on the side for a beautiful presentation.
The specialty coffees that are served are also
on par; mind you at $9.50 per order, they will make a dent in your coffee fund
for the week. If you are looking for a nice treat they are well worth the money,
especially the Jamaican coffee containing a splash of Tia Maria and rum. Be sure
not to add extra sugar as the coffee is rich enough with the whip cream topping."
